The best girls golfers in the state embarked on the Ames Golf and Country Club last week for the 41st annual Iowa Junior PGA Championships.The event was held July 5-6 and among the participants in the girls 16-18 division was Washington’s Sarah Nacos, the two-time Class 4A individual state champion.

Nacos finished the Iowa Junior PGA Championship in seventh place out of 14 participants, carding a 36-hole score of 16 over 158. Her first round finished with a 14 over 85 in round one, featuring 10 bogeys and two double bogeys. She concluded the tournament with a score of two over 73, including three birdies and two bogeys.

This was the fourth tournament Nacos competed in on the junior PGA tour. She finished in first place at three different tournaments in June including, the 33rd Annual Jester Park Junior Amateur in Granger, the Iowa City Junior at Pleasant Valley, and the Quad Cities Junior at Emeis.
