With a large voter turnout Tuesday, the YMCA special election bond vote failed in Washington. As heard live on KCII from the Washington County Courthouse, according to results from the Washington County Auditor, 74% of voters cast their ballots against the measure while 26% of people voted in favor. The measure was to issue $3 million in general obligation bonds to help fund a new YMCA in Washington to be built on West 5th Street, the total project cost is estimated at $10.4 million. In total, 1,710 people voted in the special election, a turnout of 35.16% of voters.
