Iowa Mennonite School’s Drake Brezina powered Clear Creek Amana to a season opening win over Mount Pleasant on the road Friday night 23-8.

The defenses dominated the first quarter, leaving the game scoreless going to the second. In frame two Brezina came up with a pair of scoring runs to push the CCA lead to 13-0 at the halftime break. Again out of the locker room it was about the defenses as neither team could break through in the third quarter. The Clippers made it a 16-0 lead with a 38 yard field goal in the early moments of the fourth. Mount Pleasant got on the board with a 55 yard scoring strike from Zach Beason to Jordan Magnani to cut the lead in half at 16-8. The Clippers scored one more time, with a late insurance touchdown sealing the win. CCA is now 1-0 on the year and will host Indpendence next week.
