At the recent Riverside City Council meeting, they were given a presentation from Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius about a project to expand the north section of Riverside Road. Thorius said there’s already a plan to increase the width of the road to 24 feet, with a two foot shoulder, from Riverside down to Spruce Avenue. Thorius proposed the city join the project to expand it into town, from the bridge up to Highway 22.

Thorius said the city was interested, and they could piggyback on the grant proposals. He felt they would scale back the project to only pave and widen the shoulders. He added the project is going to proceed from the county’s standpoint some time over the next year or two, and the city will likely make a final decision on their part depending on successful grant proposals. The city would also like to do similar work on Highway 22 some time in the future.
