Despite missing nearly half the season due to injury, Sigourney graduate Peyton Crawford has been chosen as one of the best baseball players in Iowa. The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association released their all-state teams for the 2016 season this week, and Crawford was named to the Class 1A team as an outfielder. He also received first team all-conference and all-district awards as an outfielder.

Limited to 12 games due to injury, Crawford posted a .447 batting average, smashing three home runs and six doubles in 38 at bats for the Savages. Crawford was the Hedge Above Lawncare Athlete of the Week two times in his athletic career, once during the baseball season and once in football.

The Savages ended their season with a record of 6-16 overall, a five-win regression from last season. Sigourney loses Crawford, Jordan Albert, and Cody Cundiff to graduation.
