Last season’s youth movement for the Highland Huskies’ volleyball team resulted in a 20-win campaign. Prior to last season, the Huskies complied a 31-28 record the previous two seasons. The Huskies return seven players from last year’s squad.

Highlighting Highland’s returning starters is Kelsey Hora, whose had a decorated athletic career. Hora, a two-time first team all-conference volleyball athlete, led the Southeast Iowa Super Conference with 368 digs. Hora made 90 kills and served up 43 aces offensively.

Junior Sydney Black collected the most kills of any returning player for Highland, smashing 153 balls to the floor. She also served a team-best 44 aces.

Highland graduated their two top facilitators from last season. Jenna Dresselhaus and Briana Davis combined to assist the Huskies on 471 points. Hora is the team’s top returning facilitator, tallying 19 assists in 92 sets.

The Huskies are scheduled to open up the volleyball season August 22 in North English, taking part in the Keota Volleyball Tournament.
