The Iowa Mennonite School softball team showed improvement during the course of the 2016 season, finishing with a 7-11 overall record, their best year since 2013.

IMS played their best during the final week of June. That stretch saw them go 4-0 and claim the championship at the 2016 IMS Classic. At the plate IMS was in the middle of the pack in the Southeast Iowa Superconference in average, slugging percentage and on base percentage. While they were in the bottom third of the conference in total hits, runs scored and RBI. In the circle IMS was also in the bottom third in strikeouts, ERA and opponent batting average against.

Individual leaders for IMS at the plate included Rubye Ney who led the team and was seventh in the conference with her .462 average. Ney was also fourth in the conference with a .541 on base percentage. When it comes to power Iowa Mennonite was led by Calli Shaw and her 22 RBI, her 25 total hits were also best on the team. Shaw and Avery Blauvelt shared the team lead with a pair of home runs. Blauvelt also led IMS with 19 runs scored.

In the circle IMS was led by Hannah Harris. She threw a team high 93 innings, giving up 128 hits and 85 earned runs, working out to a 6.38 ERA. She struck out 48 batters while opponents hit .278 against her. The seven wins for IMS on the season was a six win improvement from 2015.
