At their most recent meeting, the Keota City Council approved the contract with the Iowa Economic Development Authority for the Community Development Block Grant program. The city was awarded $300,000 from the program to upgrade their sewer plant, as mandated by the Department of Natural Resources. Keota City Clerk Niki Osweiler said they are now waiting on the DNR to either approve or not approve their revised design. If it’s approved, they can begin bidding and construction of the the sewer plant. The original estimation for the project was $3 million, but with the revised design, it will be closer to $2 million.
