The Brighton Chamber of Commerce recently submitted a mini-grant proposal to the Washington County Riverboat Foundation on behalf of Lake Darling to acquire an automated external defibrillator, or AED device. Lake Darling Park Ranger Zach Haworth said they haven’t had any medical emergencies at the park yet, but with the visitation numbers rising at the park, the potential is always there. The AED will be a useful tool to have on site to provide prompt care, while waiting for the first responders to arrive.

The mini-grant was in the amount of $2,000, and will purchase the park one AED, but Haworth hopes to eventually get a second. As of now, it will be carried by the staff member on duty, but he’d like to have one in a stationary location as well.
