Soon-to-be junior Sarah Nacos, the two-time Class 4A individual and team state golf champion, has played in two tour tournaments so far in the month of August.

Nacos began tournament play on August 4 at the Meadows Golf Club in Dubuque for the Eastern Iowa Junior Championship. Naco finished the 18-hole event in second place out of seven golfers, carding a three over 75. She recorded two birdies and five bogeys during the round. She finished two strokes behind Shannyn Vogler of Sherrard, Illinois.

Nacos spent Monday and Tuesday this week competing in the Junior Tour championship at the Copper Creek Golf Club in Pleasant Hill. The 36-hole tournament saw Nacos finish second in the four-person field, carding a score of eight over 157. Illinois’s Vogler took first place honors, carding a one over 149. Nacos shot a 78 during the tournament’s first round, making three birdies, eight bogeys and one double bogey. The second day of the tournament saw her post a score of 79, with six bogeys, and one double bogey.

Of the eight tournaments this summer, Nacos has won four events, with her last first place finish coming July 13 at the Iowa PGA Junior Cedar Rapids tournament.
