The state of Iowa’s unemployment rate increased by a tenth of a percentage point from June to July. According to Iowa Workforce Development, Iowa’s unemployment increased from 4.0% to 4.1%, with 70,600 people unemployed in the state. These figures are not seasonally adjusted. Washington County’s unemployment rate fell slightly from 3.1% to 3.0%. Washington County had 400 people unemployed out of a labor force of 12,800. Neighboring counties that saw increases in unemployment include Iowa, Jefferson, and Keokuk counties.
