The decorated career of 2016 Sigourney graduate Peyton Crawford ends with a pair of postseason accolades on the baseball diamond. The coaches of the South Iowa Cedar League honored Crawford with a spot on the first team all-conference squad as an outfielder. The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association has also named Crawford a member of the Class 1A Southeast District first team as an outfielder.

Limited to 12 games due to injury, Crawford posted a .447 batting average, smashing three home runs and six doubles in 38 at bats for the Savages. Crawford was the Hedge Above Lawncare Athlete of the Week three times in his athletic career, once in baseball and twice in football.

Senior Jordan Albert earned one of the SICL’s Golden Awards, given to players who likely would have had an all-conference statistical season but whose performance was hampered by injury. A second team all-conference pitcher as a junior, Albert was limited to nine games this summer. He posted a 1-2 record with an earned run average of 7.39 in 18 innings pitched.

Junior Tanner Bos and freshman Dustin Haines represent Sigourney on this year’s honorable mention team. The Savages ended their season with a record of 6-16 overall, a five-win regression from last season. Sigourney loses Crawford, Albert, and Cody Cundiff to graduation.
