Corn in southeast Iowa is ahead of the state’s overall rate and the five-year average according to the most recent crop progress report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. For the week ending July 31st, 95% of Iowa’s corn crop was silking and 35% was in the dough stage with a few isolated reports across the state of corn starting to dent. In southeast Iowa, 96% of corn is silking and 42% of the crop is in the dough stage. Overall, Iowa’s corn is currently rated at 13% fair, 59% good and 24% excellent.
