Tuesday afternoon emergency crews responded to the scene of a motorcycle wreck on Highway 1, about one mile south of Washington. According to the Washington County Communications office, they received a call from someone reporting his friend left Brighton Sunday night on a motorcycle headed to Washington and he’d been located in the ditch, not breathing. The driver of the motorcycle was 56-year-old Michael Larry Beenblossom of Washington.

Washington County Ambulance, Washington Rescue, Washington Fire Department, Washington County Sheriff’s personnel, Washington Police Department, the medical examiner and the Jones Eden Funeral Home responded to the wreck. Highway 1 was reduced to one lane while crews worked at the site. The 2005 Suzuki motorcycle was totaled and towed from the scene.

It was determined by authorities that the motorcycle was northbound on Highway 1 and entered the construction warning zone and left the roadway to the right, lost control and entered the ditch, struck a field drive embankment, returned to the field drive embankment, reentered the ditch, struck a barbed wire fence and came to rest in a farm field.
