The man involved in a recent standoff with police in Fairfield has died, according to the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office. On Friday, 45-year-old Kelley Robinson passed away from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The incident began just after midnight August 25th at 2089 Libertyville Road in Fairfield. The Jefferson County Law Center received a 911 call reporting a male subject pointing a handgun at the caller. The caller and two other people were able to leave the home. The Jefferson County Sheriff, Fairfield Police, and Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene.

Officers set up a perimeter around the home and made repeated attempts to contact Robinson inside, but the home had been barricaded from within. At approximately 4:30 a.m., law enforcement made forced entry into the residence and located the injured Robinson. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital, and succumbed to his wounds the next day. The incident remains under investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
