At around 3:15 Friday afternoon, August 5th a car versus semi wreck occurred on 12th street north of Washington.41-year-old Travis Lee Lorence of Washington was traveling southbound in the northbound lane in a 1999 Chevy Cavalier. 58-year-old Michael L. Huff of Farmington was traveling northbound in a 2016 Mack cement truck. Both vehicles swerved into the southbound lane and collided, coming to rest in the west ditch. Lorence was pronounced dead at the scene. Huff was transported by ambulance to University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics with unknown injuries. Responding to the scene were the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Washington Police, Washington County Rescue, Washington Fire Department and the Iowa State Patrol.

The accident is currently under investigation.
