The Washington Area Soccer Program is gearing up for their initial season as practices are scheduled beginning on Monday. Washington’s new youth soccer program is still accepting athletes wanting to play the sport this fall.

President of the Washington Area Soccer Program Heather Perez tells KCII Sports the league is for anyone ages 4-18 who want a chance to play soccer during the fall. As of now, the teams are broken down into U-6 (four and five year olds), U-8 (six and seven year olds), U-10 (eight and nine year olds), U 12 (10 and 11 year olds), and U 14 (12-13 year olds). Perez says they are short players 14 years and older to make more than one team. Depending on registration the next few weeks, the team could be broken into a U 16 (14-15 year olds) and a U 19 (16-18 year olds) squad or stay as one U 19 team (14-18 year olds).

Games will be played on Saturday’s only beginning the last weekend in August and running through last weekend in October. The registration cost is $75 per player. If you are interested in getting involved in the Washington Area Soccer Program, you are asked to call the Washington YMCA at (319) 653-2141.
