Winfield Crooked Creek Days had a successful weekend according to organizer Jennifer Huston. In particular, she said the new events were popular. For the kids donut eating contest, they allowed 40 kids to sign up because they didn’t want to overwork the donut makers. They had 20-40 additional kids show up wanting to participate, but they had to turn them away. Huston said they know for next year to increase estimates so more kids can take part. She added, for the glow-in-the-dark bags tournament, they had 60 people participate, which was double what they were expecting. The air mattress race wasn’t as big as they had hoped, but Huston said it might have been because people were unsure of what it was. They plan on bringing all three events back for next year.

Huston feels the success of the weekend can largely be attributed to the leadership of the committee, which has been together a long time and works well as a group. For next year, she hopes they can increase the number of volunteers they have to help make things run more smoothly and make it even more successful. She’s not sure exactly how many people attended this year’s Crooked Creek Days, though she did say the Sunday car show had 150 entrants, up from 93 the previous year. Using that as the example, she estimated this year’s event had significantly increased attendance.
