Three volleyball teams from the Southeast Iowa Super Conference will compete for league bragging rights tonight. The Highland Huskies (15-5 overall), the Lone Tree Lions (9-11 overall), and the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves (9-12 overall) will represent the North division in tonight’s single elimination Southeast Iowa Super Conference volleyball tournament. All three area schools advanced to today’s tournament by finishing second in pool play Thursday.

The Huskies defeated the WACO Warriors (9-10 overall; 21-11, 21-13), the Van Buren Warriors (6-12 overall; 21-11, 21-12), and the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons (1-18; 21-5, 21-12) in straight sets. Their only loss came in three sets versus the Wapello Arrows (15-2 overall; 23-21, 14-21, 11-15). Highland will face the New London Tigers (16-6 overall) in the quarterfinal round tonight.

The Lone Tree Lions earned straight set victories over the Danville Bears (3-9 overall; 21-11, 21-15), and West Burlington (3-7 overall; 21-15, 21-9). The No. 6 Holy Trinity Catholic Crusaders (18-0 overall), the pool’s top seed, downed the Lions in straight sets, (21-8, 21-8). Lone Tree’s quarterfinal matchup is against the Mediapolis Bullettes (14-3 overall).

The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves won in straight sets against the Iowa Mennonite School (4-13 overall; 21-12, 21-14). The Wolves took the No. 2 seeded Central Lee Hawks (7-12 overall) to three games before winning the match (13-21, 21-14, 15-10). The Wolves suffered a loss to top seeded Mediapolis (10-21, 9-21). W-MU draws Holy Trinity Catholic as their quarterfinal opponent.

Matches are set to serve at 5 p.m. at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington.
