Financial literacy classes to help those entering the world of banking are being offered this fall. Jodi Covington with United Way explains the program called Money Smart will discuss a variety of topics about the basics of banking. Classes will meet once each week for five weeks and will go over banking terms, budgeting, checking and savings accounts and more.

The class maximum is 20 participants and there are guidelines to take part. Those who attend all five classes will receive $300 for a checking or savings account at a bank of their choice. Classes are held at the Kirkwood Washington Regional Center beginning September 27th. Money Smart is being held in partnership with CBI Bank and Trust and United Way of Washington and Johnson Counties.
