The Clear Creek Amana Football team has tied their best start in school history by winning their first five games of 2016.

The last time that happened was 1999. If the Clippers want to add a new chapter to the record book they are going to have to do it by going through fellow undefeated West Delaware. The Clippers come into Friday’s game ranked No. 10 in the latest class 3A poll from the Associated Press. Last week they shut out Center Point-Urbana 26-0 in their homecoming game in Tiffin. Matt Brimeyer and Jared Eckrich each rushed for more than 100 yards in the game. On the year the Clippers are led by Ashton Carpenter through the air, he is 21 of 41 for 179 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. His favorite target is Cory Siders with nine catches for 68 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, following the injury to Drake Brezina of Iowa Mennonite School, Matt Brimeyer and Jared Eckrich have combined for 704 yards and eight touchdowns. Clear Creek Amana leads the district in scoring defense. and total defense.

West Delaware comes into Friday’s game at 5-0 on the season and ranked No. 5 in the latest class 3A poll from the Associated Press . In their last action they shut out Central Clinton, DeWitt 28-0. The Hawks are led on the year by Tanner Wessels who is 46 of 87 through the air for 871 yards, 10 touchdowns and five interceptions. His favorite target is Kabryn Cook with eight catches for 310 yards and four touchdowns. On the ground the Hawks are led by Caleb Kehrli with 83 rushes for 721 yards and 11 scores. The Hawks lead the district in total yards and scoring.

Action begins Friday night at 7:30 in Tiffin.
