The Clear Creek Amana football team has opened the season on a roll, winning their first three contests.

The Clippers cruised through the non district schedule with wins over Mount Pleasant and Independence. They backed that up last week beating Dubuque Wahlert 24-14. Tonight they match up with the Maquoketa Cardinals, as they hit the road for the first time in district play. Through the air the Clippers are led by Ashton Carpenter who is 14 of 26 for 115 yards two touchdowns and two interceptions. His favorite target is Cody Siders with seven grabs for 59 yards and a score. On the ground, CCA will be without their leading rusher for the rest of the year as Iowa Mennonite School student Drake Brezina tore his ACL on his first carry of the second half last week against Wahlert. Brezina had 284 yards on 34 carries on the year.

Maquoketa is 0-3 on the year. The Cardinals have been outscored 115-44 on the year. Last week they fell to Center Point-Urbana 32-7 on the road. Maquoketa is led by Justin Snyder through the air. He has completed 41 of 87 passes for 424 yards for four touchdowns and three interceptions. Snyder is also his team’s leading rusher with 226 yards and two touchdowns on 53 carries. His favorite target is Abe Kinrade with 14 catches for 191 yards and two touchdowns.
