City officials of Columbus Junction are meeting throughout the day to track the rising of the Iowa River east of the city. There’s a possibility they will close Highway 92 at the bridge near the river as early as tomorrow. According to current projections, the river will crest Thursday, creating the possibility of flood water on the highway. In preparation, the city is readying road signs and Hesco barriers at the location. The Columbus Junction community development director Mallory Smith advised people to plan different routes just in case. KCII will continue to monitor the situation.
