For those hoping road construction is done for the year, the wait will be a little longer. Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius said they still have two projects they’re hoping to start in the coming weeks. The first is a patching project on several roads throughout the county. The second is a bridge culvert project on 290th Street, one quarter mile east of Larch Ave, a gravel road south of Washington.

Thorius explained they hoped to get to the projects sooner in the year, but the contractor’s schedule didn’t allow that to happen. He believes the culvert project should take roughly a month, and he hopes it’s complete before winter. The patching project should only take two or three weeks. 290th Street will be closed during construction on the culvert, and no roads are expected to be closed due to the patching project.
