Healing at English River Outfitters, or HERO, is hosting their annual open house and wild game feed this Saturday. According to HERO founder Chuck Geertz, the primary purpose of the event is to allow the donors and general public to take a look at what they’re doing, and show the donors their money is not being wasted or abused. He added, the barbeque and wild game feed are a good way to clean out their freezers and make way for new meat.

HERO has hosted a wild game feed for the past eight years, and three years ago they expanded it to include an open house. The non-profit organization helps veterans readjust to civilian life, with a particular emphasis on aiding wounded soldiers. HERO is located south of Washington on the southeast corner of Sockum Ridge Park. There is no cost for the open house, though free-will donations will be accepted with proceeds going toward their life skills program.
