Flooding continues in eastern Iowa, including Louisa County. The Iowa River at Columbus Junction, Wapello and Oakville is slightly above flood stage according to data from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as of 5 a.m. this morning. At Columbus Junction flood stage is 19 feet and water is at 19.12 feet, at Wapello flood stage is 20 feet and it is at 20.5 feet, and at Oakville flood stage is 10 feet, but the Iowa River there is at 10.47 feet. The Cedar River at Conesville has also breached its banks and is at 14.27 feet, while flood stage there is 13 feet. In Cedar Rapids, flood stage is 12 feet and it has risen to nearly 22 feet.

You are reminded to turn around if you come across a road that is flooded, as there is no way to tell if the road has been washed out or what debris may be in the river from upstream. Also, Alliant Energy reminds you to avoid walking in flooded backyards if water is touching ground-mounted electrical transformers and don’t walk through a flood building until electricity is disconnected.
