Monday night several area girls cross country teams traveled to Kickers Park in Iowa City to compete at Clear Creek Amana’s Clipper Cross Country Classic.

Mid-Prairie took home the team championship with their score of 27 points. The Golden Hawks were led by the Hostetler sisters with Anna taking home the meet championship in a time of 18:18 and Marie finishing runner up in 18:22. Both were more than a minute and a half faster than the rest of the field. Other finishers for Mid-Prairie included Abbagail Evans seventh, Greta Schmidt eighth, Kessa Jones ninth, Abby Tornow 10th, Kate Cavanagh 19th and Moriah Brase 20th.

Columbus saw Jenessa Carpenter set a new school record in a 5k race with her time of 22:42.16, edging the previous record set last year by Ashley Canny by under a quarter of a second. Other finishers for the Wildcats included Aubrey Duncan 29th, Martha Garcia 44th, and Nayeli Martinez 52nd.

Top finisher for the Winfield-Mt. Union girls was Johndree Harris in 27th with a time of 24:53. Other finishers for the Wolves included Isabella Mertens 38th, and Lauren Hagge 45th.

The WACO Warriors were led by Kasey Sutton in 42nd with a time of 28:18. Other finishers for WACO included Emily Thomson 50th and Mackenzie Shelman 51st.
