In the first eight months of 2016 254 people died in crash-related incidents in Iowa. That is an increase of nearly 21% over last year at this time. With increased traffic for the holiday weekend, the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau is warning that drivers who are impaired puts anyone sharing the road with them at a higher risk of being in a crash. Of all the traffic crash fatalities in the U.S. and Iowa, almost one-third involved drunk drivers. There is increased traffic enforcement across the state through Monday. Remember to buckle up and don’t drive drunk.
