With the Cedar River out of its banks in Cedar Rapids, the Linn County inmates were moved to the Washington County Jail for temporary housing. Washington County Sheriff Jerry Dunbar tells KCII News, he anticipates the inmates staying in Washington through the end of the week. He adds the number of inmates varies daily from 30 to 50. The charges for Linn County is $45 per inmate each day and Dunbar anticipates generating about $11,000 in the week’s time. The money generated goes directly to the county’s general budget.
