For those that can’t get enough of cycling, Louisa County Conservation has partnered with the Louisa County Trails Council and the conservation boards of Des Moines and Muscatine Counties to put on the third annual Tri-County Pedal, also referred to as “Musc-Lo-Des.” The 47-mile ride will begin in Yarmouth in Des Moines County, have a lunch stop in Columbus Junction, and finish in Muscatine County at the Ardon Creek Vineyard north of Letts.

Louisa County Naturalist Lana Artz-McComb said the event has had good turnouts in the past, but this year they had an advantage. They were able to advertise for the ride as RAGBRAI came through the county, which allowed them to speak directly to the audience they’re trying to reach. Artz-McComb said the purpose of the bike ride is to illustrate the bike trails in the county, as well as the connection between the trails of the three counties. The Tri-County Pedal is Saturday, September 17th starting at 9 a.m. Cost is $20, and registration is available online, though people are welcome to show up the day of the event without registering.
