The University of Iowa is having their homecoming game this Saturday against Northwestern, and people can watch the game in a location they may not have expected. Washington County Conservation was brainstorming ideas for how to fill Marr Park during the non-peak season, and Park Ranger Mark Even suggested they show the CyHawk game and homecoming games for Iowa and Iowa State at the park. They weren’t able to get everything together in advance of the CyHawk game, but they are ready to go for this weekend’s homecoming game.

They will show the game in the Conservation Education Center on a big-screen television supplied by Archer Appliance, and there will also be a potluck dinner at halftime with prizes. People will bring their best dishes, and those in attendance will vote on the best main course, side dish, and dessert. Winners will receive their choice of three free days of camping at Marr Park, or a free shelter rental. Additionally, if the Hawkeyes win the game, everyone who stayed at the park Thursday through Saturday will receive a coupon for one free day of camping. Even is hopeful the event will be successful and will lead to more like it, including next year’s CyHawk game. There is no cost for the event, and doors open at 10 a.m. Saturday with kick off at 11 a.m. For more information or to pre-register, call 319-657-2400.
