As people drive on Highway 22 past Mid-Prairie High School, they’ve likely noticed the construction in front of the building. The work being done in Wellman is the new central administration office and alternative learning center building. While construction is progressing, it’s been forced to take a backseat to the work on the high school’s culinary lab. Business Manager Jeff Swartzentruber explained their priority is to finish work on the high school before moving on to the central administration office and ALC building.

Optimistically, he believes they could be ready to move into the new building as early as March. Several years ago, it was decided to build the new facility, as opposed to spending $400,000 on updating the prior building, which was 40 years old. For the past several years, administration has been housed in two construction trailers leased by the district.
