As Mid-Prairie’s homecoming week draws to a close, all the focus is on tonight’s football game against Camanche. During halftime of the game, the Mid-Prairie marching band will take the field to help introduce the court, including newly crowned king and queen, Daniel Riggan and Lily Schlabaugh. Band instructor David Kunz said the students had to learn several songs not on their normal repertoire for the event, but feels confident they will put on a good show.
This specific set list is only played at homecoming, though it will include the song “Beth” from their Kiss show. For the last week, they have been working on the songs “One Moment in Time,” “For Your Eyes Only,” and “How Deep is Your Love?” Kunz said those songs were chosen because they are ballads fit for introducing homecoming queens. The court will arrive on the field in a car, and then walk through what Kunz called a tunnel the marching band will create. He added, it’s been tradition for the band to provide the accompaniment to the court as they come out on the field, and he believes the students have always enjoyed it. The football game kicks off tonight at 7 p.m., and you can hear all of the action live on AM 1380, FM 102.5, and KCIIRadio.com.
