While heavy rain swept across north-central Iowa this week, parts of the state still remain abnormally dry. According to this week’s report from the U.S. Drought Monitor, 3.2% of Iowa is abnormally dry, up from just over one percent last week. The dry area is in south-central Iowa, in Decatur, Wayne, Appanoose, Monroe and Lucas counties. The heavy rains this week are causing flooding downstream for the Cedar and Iowa rivers. Near Greene 10.4 inches of rain was reported from Wednesday to Thursday, while Iowa City had just over an inch of rain. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
