Due to flood conditions around Cedar Rapids and other parts of northern Iowa this week, the rivers in Louisa County are expected to rise steadily over the weekend, with flooding anticipated in some areas. According to the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa River has already risen at least a foot. The sheriff’s office says its likely Highway 61 north of Wapello will be underwater as early as Monday, so they encourage people who travel that road regularly to find an alternative route.

While they don’t predict any other road to go under water, they do remind drivers to exercise caution around water. They remind people to never attempt to drive through water on the road, as it’s difficult to tell how deep water may be. The sheriff’s office encourages people to call them for flood updates over the course of the weekend.
