While some areas of the state were waterlogged last week, farmers had 5.1 days suitable for fieldwork which included cutting hay and planting cover crops. According to this week’s crop progress report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Iowa’s corn is rated at 13% fair, 59% good and 24% excellent. In southeast Iowa, 70% of corn has dented and 21% is mature, ahead of this time last year when only eight percent of corn locally was mature.
