Those incarcerated in Washington County’s jail now have access to Transition Link, a program that helps people transition from jail to the general public. Elley Neuzil, the program coordinator, explains the jail diversion program, is a post-booking program. She helps people connect with different services, providers and treatment options. The goal is reduce the number of people returning to the jail and to provide training for law enforcement when working with mental health patients.

The program is in Washington, Louisa, Henry, Des Moines and Lee counties. She shared she’s been told by individuals in the program that it’s changed their lives and they have hope for their futures. For more information listen to Tuesday and Wednesday’s Washington Pages on KCII.
