Emergency crews responded to a fire call in downtown Washington early Monday afternoon. The incident was reported just after 12:30 p.m. in the building that houses The Village and the Chamber of Commerce, at the intersection of Main Street and Marion Avenue. KCII News was on scene and reported seeing smoke and firefighters enter the building. According to the Washington County Communications office, flames were reported as coming out of the top of the building.
A downtown business owner tells KCII News that a welding spark caused flames, but they were quickly extinguished.
The Washington Fire Department, the Washington Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s personnel and Washington County Ambulance responded to the scene.
