This week is homecoming week for WACO, and according to high school science teacher and student council adviser Kate Shindelar, the excitement and anticipation have been building for weeks. Events officially began Friday when the classes were allowed to begin working on their parade floats, and continued over the weekend as students began decorating the halls. Shindelar said everyone’s favorite night tends to be Wednesday, which is referred to as “Boom Night.” The night begins at 7 p.m. with a dance and coronation of the king and queen. Then they will have Boom Volleyball, where the junior and senior boys compete against each other, and that is followed by the Powder Puff Game. The night concludes with a bonfire.

Friday will feature the parade around the square at 5 p.m., with the game against Springville at 7 p.m. Winners for best parade float will be announced at halftime, and the week-long festivities will conclude with the homecoming dance. This year’s WACO homecoming court and nominees for king and queen are Halle Kissell, Kayla Leichty, Stevie Donaldson, Kasey Sutton, Gabe Black, Jackson Roth, Jaren Unternahrer, and Roman Kiefer.
