The deadline for proposals for the Washington County Riverboat Foundation’s fall grants is approaching, and the Washington County Conservation Board finalized their submission at their September meeting. Conservation Director Steve Anderson says they are submitting a proposal for $27,846 to the WCRF, which will go toward improvements to the Kiwi Avenue crossing of the Kewash Nature Trail. Anderson said the area in question is routinely referenced as “the worst place on the trail,” and with the aid of the Washington County Engineer, they now have a design they’re moving forward with which will fix the area. He hopes the WCRF agrees to partner with them on the project. The Kiwi Avenue crossing is near the Crooked Creek Bridge, and Anderson described it as a mud road which has proven resistant to all prior attempts to correct it.
