The homecoming festivities continue tonight at Case Field for the No. 9 Washington Demon football team (4-1 overall; 2-1 district 5). The Keokuk Chiefs (3-2 overall; 1-2 district 5) are the Demons’ homecoming opponent for a second straight season as they come to town for a district matchup. Washington came away with a 50-7 victory over Keokuk last season.

The Demon defense forced five turnovers last Friday in a 24-7 victory versus Fairfield (3-2 overall). John Dillon recorded two turnovers, one interception and one fumble recovery. Caleb Bex and Bryce Sinn are among four players leading the district with two fumble recoveries.

Quarterback Ryan Reighard continues to lead the district in rushing yards, amassing 877 on 111 attempts. He also tops the district with 10 passing touchdowns. Reighard’s 850 passing yards rank him second in the district behind West Burlington’s Drake Day (925).

The Keokuk Chiefs earned their first district victory last week, upending the previously unbeaten West Burlington Falcons (4-1 overall), 24-21, at Calvert Stadium. Quarterback Damon Wolter leads the Chiefs with 687 passing yards and 356 rushing yards, scoring eight touchdowns (five passing). Andrew Patterson’s 288 rushing yards is second on the Chief’s squad, scoring one touchdown. Patterson has also scored a pair of defensive touchdowns, on one fumble and one interception return.

Washington hopes to extend two winning streaks tonight. The Demons hold an 18-game win streak over Southeast Conference opponents dating back to 2011, and Washington has won their previous four homecoming games. KCII Sports will have live play-by-play coverage from Case Field, beginning with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame Show at 6 p.m. and kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on FM 106.1. The game will also stream live on KCIIRadio.com and on the KCII mobile app.
