The struggles continued Thursday evening in Keokuk for the Washington Demon volleyball team (0-8 overall; 0-1 Southeast). The Demons made their annual trip to the tri-states border, squaring off against the Keokuk Chiefs (1-2 overall) in a battle of winless Southeast Conference teams. Keokuk upended Washington in four sets (21-25, 30-28, 26-24, 25-16).

Washington’s first set victory was the second set Washington’s won all season. Seniors Olivia Postl and Jessie Buchholz highlighted the Demon offense. Postl recorded a team-best nine kills, while Buchholz topped the squad with four aces. Buchholz also led the team with 15 digs.

The loss is the eighth straight to begin the season for Washington. The Demon volleyball team returns to the court Tuesday, hosting the Mount Pleasant Panthers (6-3 overall; 0-2 Southeast) in a league match.
