Searching for their first match win of the season, the Washington Demon volleyball team (0-8 overall) will host a conference rival tonight. The Demons welcome the Mount Pleasant Panthers (6-3 overall; 0-2 Southeast) to Washington High School for a Southeast Conference showdown.

The Demons’ latest setback came last Thursday, falling in four sets to the Keokuk Chiefs (1-2 overall) 25-21, 28-30, 24-26, 16-25. Washington is averaging over 13 points per set , and have won two of the 20 sets they’ve played. Senior Olivia? Postl is Washington’s top offensive player with 32 kills, 21 more than any other Demon player. Senior Jessie Buchholz is the team’s ace leader with nine. Junior Megan Mitchell has assisted on 48 points, while junior Kylee Porter has dug up 44 balls.

The Panthers have been victorious in six of their nine matches, including winning four of five matches in the Osceola Clarke tournament two weekends ago. They dropped their latest match to the Fairfield Trojans (4-1 overall; 1-0 Southeast) in four sets (23-25, 25-22, 23-25, 20-25).

Washington and Mount Pleasant met three times on the court last season, and the Panthers won all three meetings. First serve is set for 7 p.m. tonight at Washington High School.
