The Iowa High School Athletic Association’s State Qualifying Cross Country meets were Thursday, and teams and athletes around the area competed in Pella and Cedar Rapids for their chance to represent their schools at the State Meet. Mid-Prairie saw both their boys and girls team qualify for state, as both won district championships. For the Mid-Prairie girls team, it was their second in a row.

Individual state qualifiers from around the area include Claire Horak of Washington on the girls side, Gavin Bencze of Winfield-Mt. Union, Turner Klein of Keota, and Levi Geyer of Iowa Mennonite School on the boys side. In order to qualify for state, runners had to finish in the top 15 overall in their qualifying meet. The State Cross Country Meet is Saturday, October 29th at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
