The Clear Creek Amana football team was looking for a win to cement their playoff status Thursday night when they traveled to Brady Street Stadium to battle Davenport Assumption.

Instead the Knights scored a much needed win for their postseason aspirations, taking the game 33-20. Assumption used CCA turnovers in the first half to score 14 points with good field position and build a 27-7 lead at the halftime break.

The Clippers got the football to start the second and put together a drive to climb back in the game. The eight play march ended with a Jared Eckrich 25 yard touchdown run to get the Clippers within 27-14. However, Assumption responded with an impressive drive of their own, covering 72 yards on 12 plays, converting three fourth downs along the way, bleeding more than seven minutes off the clock before Jayce Levy found the end zone and stretched the lead back to 33-14. Ekrich would find the end zone one more time with around nine minutes remaining but it wasn’t enough. With the loss CCA falls to 6-2 on the season and will finish the season with a must win game when they host Central DeWitt.
