Each year PAWS and More Animal Shelter in Washington takes in 750 to 800 animals. October is National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and many dogs of various breeds find themselves at PAWS and More looking for their forever home. One such dog was Nana, a beagle mix, who was adopted by a care facility over the summer. Jessica Kelchen, director of the Morning Sun Care Center, takes Nana to work with her every day and encourages potential dog owners to look at the shelter first. If you’re unable to adopt a dog at this time, you’re encouraged to spay or neuter your pet to prevent unwanted litters that may end up at an animal shelter.
