Iowa’s corn and soybeans are currently rated at 81% good to excellent. According to this week’s crop progress and condition report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 96% of corn in southeast Iowa is mature, about three days ahead of the five-year average. Also, 92% of soybeans in southeast Iowa are dropping leaves and 38% have been harvested. Across the state, soybeans are about two days ahead of average. Field agronomist Meaghan Anderson tells KCII News that local farmers are reporting yields in the low to mid-200s for bushels of corn per acre.
