Two football teams battling for their spot in the playoffs will meet tonight in Washington. The Washington Demons (4-2 overall) welcome the West Burlington Falcons (4-2 overall) to Case Field for a district matchup. This is the first meeting between the schools on the football field.

Both of Washington’s losses this season have come at Case Field over the last three weeks. The Demons’ latest setback came last Friday, falling to the Keokuk Chiefs (4-2 overall), 16-12. The Solon Spartans handed the Demons a 36-15 loss on September 16. Washington tops the district with 1,773 rushing yards and ranks third in passing yards with 933. Washington’s seven interceptions is tied for the third most in the district, and their seven fumble recoveries is the fourth most.

West Burlington enters tonight’s game with back-to-back losses versus Southeast Conference opponents. The Falcons won their first four games before dropping a 24-21 contest to Keokuk two weeks ago. The Mount Pleasant Panthers (3-3 overall) added to the Falcons woes last week, with a 21-14 victory. The Falcons are second in the league with 1,088 passing yards and sixth in the district with 775 rushing yards. The Falcons’ eight fumble recoveries ranks third in the group.
