The Keota School District has an independent group called the Eagle Advocates whose goal is to improve the school’s aesthetics. Superintendent Dennis Phelps said the group is made up of members of the community who concern themselves with assisting the district with updating and remodeling various parts of the buildings. They hope to create more pleasant surroundings for the students, as well as give a good first impression for visitors to the school.

With the blessing of the school board, the group has been raising money over the last couple years, and is additionally submitting a request in the school’s name to the Keokuk County Endowment Grant. The funds raised will be used for various school improvement projects moving forward. They have already begun work on a project to put school logos and other signage in the cafeteria, which Phelps believes will look good when completed.
