Friday night the Easton Valley River Hawks nearly got to triple digits on the football field, beating WACO 98-38 in 8-man district play.

The two teams traded touchdowns out of the gate with Kyle Petersen finding the end zone for Easton Valley, while Colton Horak hauled in a 74 yard scoring pass from Wyatt Harbison to leave the score 8-7 Easton Valley early. The River Hawks would score the next 30 in the first quarter, with Petersen finding the end zone three more times and Jack Mix scoring once. WACO’s Gabe Black pulled in a 68 yard touchdown pass to bring WACO within 38-13 but Petersen scored his fifth touchdown of the first quarter to leave it 46-13 after one.

Black started the second quarter with a 32 yard touchdown run for the Warriors, which was answered by two more Petersen scores to make it 58-21 Easton Valley. Colton Horak put the next 10 on the board for WACO with a 46 yard touchdown reception and a 30 yard field goal, leaving it 58-31 River Hawks. Mix and Petersen would score three more times before the half time whistle, pushing the lead to 78-31 Easton Valley at the break.

The River Hawks added a safety and another touchdown each from Mix and Petersen in the third to make it 92-31 going to the fourth. In the final frame, Colton Horak pulled in a 15 yard touchdown pass and Nate Trenkamp scored again for Easton Valley. WACO was led by Harbison who was eight of 18 through the air for 200 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. With the loss, WACO is now 3-5 on the year.
